A lot has happened since our launch of this first Memory Café for Cornwall. We meet every fortnight (Saturday) between 2pm & 4pm at Launceston Central Methodist Hall. We are always providing exciting days either in the Café itself or hiring a Mini Bus to venture out for the day. Fundrasing is ongoing all the time with support always on hand from our group of hard working volunteers and not forgetting the support we receive from other Charities and agencies, with the generosity of local people and local organisations.
The founder Cym Downing, together with the volunteers have worked very hard since the opening to ensure fundraising is always ongoing to provide the much needed finance to ensure a venture such as this is always at the heart of the community and available to all those who need to use its facilities. Sustainability is the key issue and Launceston Memory Café have been lucky to show and support other similar ventures and Memory Cafés just what is needed
The Launceston Memory Café work closely with many organisations who offer invaluable support and partnerships. The Cornwall rural Community Council (CRCC) have been working closely to ensure the correct help and support is applied to the growing number of Memory Cafés in Cornwall and are currently focusing on ways to collate information and provide information not only to the newly formed Cafés but to the wider UK community who will be able to find information within counties and on the internet.
